Evaluating FSA guidance on cross contamination
Project Code: FS245013
13/11/2012
Policy Studies Institute
Smeaton, D
The Agency carried out a scoping study, followed by both a quantitative and a qualitative survey of how well the Agency’s guidance on cross contamination had been received across a range of food handlers. Responses were broken down into a number of categories: Dissemination, awareness of guidance, views on content, views on ease of understanding, scale and range of changes made by businesses, the challenges in implementing the guidance, enforcement approaches and improvements to the guidance. This should inform the production of improved guidance publications in the future, and comes in the wake of serious E. Coli 0157 outbreaks in Scotland in 1996 and Wales in 2005.
