Investigating how consumers and health professionals in Northern Ireland understand healthy eating messages
Project Code: FS124043

Ipsos-MORI
Glass, K
Many consumers over-indulge in fatty and sugary foods at the expense of healthier alternatives. Health professionals believce that the concept of balancing food groups should be emphasised in future messaging.
The research showed that there are a number of barriers to be overcome in order for the public to eat a more balanced diet. Consumers showed a general lack of willpower to implement dietary changes and typically reported that they were not concerned about the potential impact this may have on their health. However, they also said that they trusted dieticians, GPs and the government when they put out healthy eating messages.
