Raw materials and methods of manufacture of food additives

The Food Standards Agency has a database called the Food Additives Information System (FAIS), which stores a range of information on food additives. This project aimed to research information on raw materials and methods of manufacture of EU-permitted additives, and to enter relevant information into FAIS. Inclusion of information on raw materials and methods of manufacture will enable assessment of additives in terms of compliance with purity criteria, as evaluated by the Scientific Committee on Food (SCF). Information on the database will be maintained by Agency staff.
