An evaluation design for food hygiene rating schemes
The FSA commissioned the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) to undertake an Evaluation Advisory Study. This study was designed to examine our key policies and consider appropriate options to evaluate fully their impact and effectiveness. As part of this work, PSI has provided methodological advice on how best to evaluate food hygiene rating schemes.
We are taking forward the recommendations in the advisory report, which has formed the basis of the specification for commissioning an independent evaluation of FHRS and FHIS through the Agency’s Social Science Procurement Framework. Contractors have been invited to comment on the proposed methodology and to offer any alternative suggestions if they believe this to be appropriate.
Key messages and themes emerging from the evaluation advisory study
The Evaluation Advisory Study (detailed above) considered a number of components. Themes arising in consideration of the individual components have been drawn together in a thematic paper.
