This project, undertaken jointly by Rapra Technoilogy Ltd (UK) and TNO Food and Nutrition (Netherlands), has developed two analytical methods for determinining the migration into simulants of antioxidants and stabilisers listed in European Directive 2002/72/EC as amended (Plastic materials and articles intended to come into contactv with foodstuffs. The developed LC-MS mthodology enables the specific identification and quantification of additives with low specific migration limits directly in food simulants, including olive oil, directly without the necessity to undertake extraction and clean-up of the oil prior to analysis.
