Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the Best Practice Guidance on Allergen Management and Consumer Information
Project Code: T07057
29/10/2010
In 2006, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) published voluntary Guidance on Allergen Management and Consumer Information. This is best practice guidance on controlling food allergens in the factory setting, with particular reference to avoiding crosscontamination and using appropriate advisory labelling (e.g. ‘may contain’ labelling).
In 2008 the FSA evaluated the uptake and effectiveness of the 2006 guidance.
This evaluation of the effectiveness and dissemination success of a piece of best practice guidance that we published in 2006 was conducted in 2008/9 and was published on the food.gov website at http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/pdfs/publication/allergenmanage0409.pdf
