Observational evidence suggests that increased consumption of n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 LCPs) found in oily fish, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), may slow the rate of cognitive decline in later life. However evidence from randomised controlled trials (RCTs) is extremely limited.
