Our current understanding of the interaction of effects of compounds in the diet on initiation and progression of colorectal cancer is limited. Project (T01018) set out to test whether markers of changes to colonic stem cells could provide the basis for a predictive model for use during dietary risk assessment. The follow on project (T01036) tried to identify the mutation responsible in oat genes for mild periodic acid schiff (mPAS) positive crypt staining.
