Four baby foods and one ready-to-feed infant formula sample, comparable to those procured for the surveys for dioxins and PCBs in baby foods (C02035) and in infant formulae were purchased from a local supermarket. The samples were homogenised, split in two and spiked with the following PAHs: benz[a]anthracene, benzo[b]-, benzo[j]- and benzo[k]fluoranthene, benzo[ghi]perylene, benzo[a]pyrene, chrysene, cyclopenta[cd]pyrene, dibenz[a,h]anthracene, dibenzo[a,e]-, dibenzo[a,h]-, dibenzo[a,i]-, dibenzo[a,l]pyrene, indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene and 5-methylchrysene. One portion of each sample was freeze dried. Both the freezedried and the remaining whole samples were then analysed for the above PAHs.
Results presented in this report are expressed on a whole weight basis.
