Analysis of Red and Processed Meat Purchases in Scotland using Representative Supermarket Panel Data
Project Code: S14046
01/05/2009
The aim of the project is to address the lack of data on meat consumption in Scotland with which to inform Scottish Government and Food Standard Agency Scotland (FSAS) policy in relation to setting Scottish dietary targets.
Information about meat consumption is particularly important as there is a need to take account of recent evidence and recommendations from the 2007 World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).
Hence, the purpose of the project is to use the dunnhumby data to examine actual purchases of red and preserved meats and identify differences in the purchasing of red meat and preserved meat products in relation to geographical location, socio-economic categories, and lifestage in Scotland.
