The nutrients examined were: carbohydrate, protein, B vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin C, carotenes and zinc. Results showed that B1, B2, B6 and B12 vitamins were associated with mental health outcomes at 36, 43, 53 years, but the findings were inconsistent. Women with medium/high levels of carotene intake during childhood were less at risk of psychiatric disorder between the ages of 15-32 years than those with lower intake. No effect was observed with other nutrients or with childhood dietary patterns
